Before your appointment

A smooth appointment starts before we arrive.

A few simple checks can help prevent delays or a declined notarization.

Bring acceptable identification

Have an original, current government-issued photo ID ready, such as a driver’s license, state identification card, passport, or military ID. The name should reasonably match the document.

Complete the document first

Bring the complete document with all non-notarial sections filled in. Do not sign in advance if you are instructed to sign in the notary’s presence. The receiving organization or your attorney can tell you what notarial act is required.

Confirm signers and witnesses

Every signer must be personally present, willing, aware, and able to communicate directly with the notary. Some documents also require witnesses. Confirm witness requirements with the document recipient or attorney and arrange eligible witnesses before the appointment.

Prepare the location and payment

Share the exact location, access instructions, requested date and time, and any facility requirements in advance. Be ready to complete payment as arranged when the appointment is confirmed.

Tell us about special circumstances

Call ahead for hospital, nursing-home, detention-facility, language, mobility, signature-by-mark, or other access considerations. Facility policies and additional logistics may affect availability or the quote.

GriffinQ can explain the notarial process but cannot select certificates, interpret documents, prepare forms, or provide legal advice.
